Contract: Part-time roles available 

Hours per week: 33 hours available (3.5 days per week)

Pay: up to £11.50 per hour (dependent on experience)      

Hours of work: 7:45am-5.15pm         

Holiday: 28 days inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles)

Reports to: Nursery Director

Start Date: April/May 2024 (ASAP start date available)

Location: TFTF Tots Think for the Future Centre, Lenton, Nottingham City

Overview: 

TFTF Tots, at Think for the Future, is a small-setting workplace nursery, providing high-quality childcare for the employees of Think for the Future and children within the local community. The nursery currently provides 9 places for children aged 2 months - 4 years and works strictly on a 1:3 ratio, regardless of age, to ensure that the quality of the setting remains high. As a small-setting nursery you will play a huge part, using your passion for, and experience in, early years education to run the nursery through designing and implementing educational and developmental activities for the children whilst also offering a high quality level of care to all children attending the nursery. 

We are looking for a dynamic, qualified and passionate individual with a proven track record of success within early years settings, who is interested in playing an exciting role in developing a workplace nursery and is dedicated to utilising the best practice in early years education to invest in ensuring that the children in their setting have the highest quality access to development, care and education.

Nursery Practitioner 

As a TFTF Tots Nursery Practitioner, you will be a part of a small team within a workplace nursery accommodating up to 9 children aged 2 months - 4 years, to support our Think for the Future team with childcare commitments.  You will be able to bring passion, creativity and the highest quality early years education with you to this role to work with the TFTF Tots team to care for the children at the nursery. It is really important to us to provide an environment for the children, where they feel safe and cared for, that also builds on their interests and curiosities in order for them to progress. We want TFTF Tots to be a place where staff work creatively to ignite imagination and intrigue, encourage thinking skills and most importantly have fun.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Day-to-day running of TFTF Tots, ensuring the nursery is safe, clean and welcoming, with well-kept and high-quality educational resources.
  • Utilising creativity, innovation and knowledge of early years education to design and implement programmes and activities for the children attending the nursery to participate in.
  • Creating strong relationships with the children and families accessing the nursery, the staff team working at TFTF Tots and also rapport with the wider TFTF team, creating a trusting rapport with all stakeholders. 
  • Utilising the local community spaces for planning for, and taking children on, fun and educational trips to ensure a well rounded experience within the nursery setting.
  • Taking part in your own continuous professional and personal development to maintain up to date to relevant knowledge as well as ensuring other staff working at the nursery access continuous professional and personal development
  • Ensuring all SEN/ASL needs are identified early and are met with respect, care and professionalism.
  • Making sure that records are properly maintained and archived, following the TFTF GDPR policy. 
  • Working with the TFTF Tots team to create a positive and progressive team environment where everyone is united and able to provide the highest quality care to the children in their care.

Essential:
  • Level 2 in Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Experience with babies in childcare settings. 
  • An understanding of safeguarding and SEND procedures
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to build positive relationships and rapport with children, families and TFTF Senior Leadership Team. 
  • Ability to manage change and to adapt to unexpected demands.
  • Full commitment to the role, and dedication to providing the highest quality childcare setting. 
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines both independently and as a member of a team. 
  • An ability to demonstrate a dedicated and quality first approach to early years education. 

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of in the moment planning
  • To have completed SEN and Safeguarding training and have experience in these areas.  
  • Proven track-record of working in an Ofsted “Good” or “Outstanding” childcare setting.
